I learned about riding on a trade show floor first hand–or maybe I should say first foot.
Last week while testing out an innovative new go-cart I managed to fall and sprain my foot.
The doctor said I had to stay off the foot and put me on crutches. If you’ve ever used crutches you know they are a royal pain.
Today I had plans to check out the new products at the Housewares Show in Chicago, but with crutches I was ready to skip (pun) the event.
I thought I would call McCormick Place to see if I could rent a wheelchair. Much to my delight I was told I could rent a wheelchair for $20 –or I could rent a scooter for $50.
The scooter was wonderful and the irony doesn’t escape me. An electric go-cart stopped me in my tracks and now an electric scooter put me back on track.

Steve still thinks he is 21. Steve was trying out a new Go Cart Yesterday in Hermann Park, Houston, TX when he took a tumble. He admits to going around a bend faster than he should have and promptly fell over. Ouch !! Not sure what he did to his ankle and arch, but in his words “Walking is a nightmare.” We hope he feels better now that it is 24 hours later. He showed up for his Great Day Houston “Green” segment , KHOU, on crutches. He is threatening to use a wheel chair later today in the American Airlines terminal before his flight back to Miami. The show must go on.
