Eyes Wide Shut

January 21st, 2010 . by Steve Greenberg and Lois Whitman

This is a very special video interview because Dr. Susan Malinowski, MD, delivers a vital medical message that can help saves lives or at the very least improve them. Dr. Malinowski, a well known and highly respected ophthalmologist from Southfield, Michigan, explains that the medical industry has made many technological advances in the last five years that many diseases that were once viewed as “extreme hardships” can now be cared for successfully, if caught early. “Catching it” early is the operative word for many people who do not go to doctors on a regular basis. Dr. Malinowski explains in detail how certain diseases like diabetes and/or macular degeneration are no longer be considered a pre cursor to blindness if a patient practices preventive medicine. That means visiting your various doctors once or twice a year.

The genius of Dr. Malinowski is that she can speak to the masses in language we can understand even though there is a lot of sophisticated jargon behind the scenes. The video is a little fuzzy because yours truly had the JVC HD video recorder on the wrong setting. We decided to post the interview anyway because the message is so strong and innovative. By the way, Dr. Malinowski didn’t know it at the time, but the interviewer (me) had been walking around with shingles for three days without being properly treated.

Results: extreme pain and suffering for much more time than necessary. One visit to the doctor and the patient was on the road to recovery

This interview will forever be imbedded in my mind. I wanted to share it with you as soon as possible.

Get Ready For Induction

January 20th, 2010 . by Steve Greenberg

Seen at CES…

Imagine just putting a pot on your granite or Formica countertop–and the water inside starts to boil–and the countertop stays safe and cool to the touch. This same technology will let you charge your cell phone or laptop without plugging in any wires–just put your phone on the nightstand and it will start charging.

It’s not science fiction–we have the technology today. And just as bluetooth has become an industry standard–now a group of tech companies including Dell, Fulton and others are working on an induction standard called eCoupled. As opposed to conduction, induction is safe way to move an electric charge without heat or sparks. You’ll be hearing much more about eCoupled in the not too distant future. Very cool demo on the floor of CES.
